In this video, we're going to talk about how to update the OnTime desktop applications. We've tried to make OnTime very easy to update and, as a result, you'll be notified in the programs whenever an update is available. Let me show you where that's found.

Start OnTime Management Suite. Incidentally, the same procedure will happen in OnTime Dispatch, so everything I show you here will apply to that other program as well. Let me login. Once I'm logged in, at the bottom of the application window, there will be a notice if an update is available. And, sure enough, we see it here at the bottom: "A new version is available. Click here to update."

To update the program is quite simple. Just click and a window will pop up, telling us that an update is available. Click the Download and Install Update button and we're told that the update is being downloaded. Now is the time to save any existing work in OnTime and to close those programs down. If I did have anything open in the program, now is my chance to save that information and close the program.

Because my program is closed, as soon as my download is completed, the system will automatically install the update. Now I'm prompted, is it OK to do this update? Say Yes and it takes just a few minutes to uninstall the old version and install the upgraded, new version.

During this process, all of your data is still intact. We're only updating the program. You are not going to ever lose anything during the course of an update.

The program has been updated, so I can close my updater window. I'll notice my icon on the desktop and double-click it. My version number is higher now, so I've got a newer version of the program. As I sign in, I'll notice that the notification that an update is available has disappeared. That means that I am up-to-date.

If, for some reason, I wanted to manually force a check for an update, I can go to the File menu and then click on Check for updates under the About section. When I do that, it will tell me if any new updates are available.

Now, let me close the program and talk about more advanced situations. If, for some reason, the process that we just went through updating your program fails, it may be helpful to manually uninstall the OnTime application, download the latest version, and then install it manually. Let me show you how to do that.

Go to the Start menu and go to Programs and Features. Once there, you'll see a list of all the programs installed on your computer. Find OnTime Management Suite or, if you're doing this for OnTime Dispatch, find that entry. Once you find it, select it and click Uninstall at the top. This will go through the process of uninstalling, so I'll just click next and follow the wizard through. Notice that my icon disappeared off of my desktop. Again, all of my data is still intact, I'm just uninstalling the program itself. Click Finish.

The program is gone and I need to go to the OnTime website. I'll open a web browser and go to OnTime360.com. Once there, I'll click on the Download link at the top of the page and then choose to download the program that I want on my computer. In this case, we would like OnTime Management Suite, so I'll click that and save the installation file to my desktop, so I can easily find it. Once that's downloaded, I'll double-click the install file, give it approval, and let the program install. Sometimes this method of updating can be helpful if you run into problems using the automatic install.

Again, this video has shown you how to update your OnTime delivery software quickly and simply. If you have any questions about this process or any difficulties, feel free to contact OnTime Customer Support and we'll be happy to walk you through the process. Thank you for your time.

The system is amazingly flexible, especially in the area of building customized price sets and notifications. We've set up all kinds of notification systems and close to 100 different price sets to accommodate our customers over the years.
